The simple Index/Context/Text Views and retrieval tools discussed above are sufficient for many purposes. But when you have a very large database, or more than one database to work with, you may want to apply some more advanced techniques. Free Text provides several, and also gives you the opportunity to develop and customize the standard Free Text stack to meet your specific needs.
ΓÇóSubset browsing
The first and most important new feature of Free Text is the ability to work in a subset of the entire database. If you're browsing in a database, click on one of the "Empty" buttons now (the empty squares at the top center, between the Index View windows). You'll see the display of word counts change. You've gone into a subset of the whole database, and now the count information tells you how many occurrences of each word are in your subset.
